Time for my second ever RoMa Craft.  I selected the CroMagnon Anthropology today....which leaves me two Intemperance blends remaining.  I enjoyed every puff of the Aquitaine Mode 5, so I expect big things from this corona gorda sized beauty. They list it as a grand corona, actually.  Anyhow, RoMa Craft has some groovy inspirations behind the names of their cigar lines.  Paying homage to the dawn of man, the CroMagnon line has some cool named sizes like the cranium, the early modern human, the slobberknocker, the blockhead, and the 110 ring gauge femur.  So much fun!  Okay, enough talk, let's smoke!

Construction: A Grand Corona in size - similar to a corona gorda - with a red-brown and very oily wrapper leaf, the Anthropology is a gorgeous cigar.  Very few veins and seams as smooth as silk.

Pre-light Aroma and Draw: Out of the cellophane, the Anthropology gives on a delicious sweet chocolate aroma.  Notes of cedar, raisin, and leather also make appearances.  My first words once I pulled it from the cellophane was " Wow" .  The draw is nice and open but not full throttle wide, which is good for the size.

Light and Burn: In the first third the cigar took a slightly ragged burn line....and then corrected itself.  Always a sign of a quality cigar.

Tasting: From the start, the Anthropology gives up a dizzying array of flavors.  Cocoa, leather, white pepper, coffee, and caramel all make appearances early on.  After about a quarter of an inch, the flavors smooth out from the initial rush.  Leather, cocoa, and a very slight pepper spice make up the main set of flavors.  I also get a nice earth at the core.  Just like the Aquitaine, it is easy to see that this is a perfectly blended and balanced cigar.  Strength is in the medium-full range so far.

A deep rich cocoa and coffee blend together as the second third starts up.  Vanilla, and a nice creaminess complement things perfectly.  A nice dried fruit note is added to the mix here too.  Couple that with vanilla, cream, and a core of earth and leather, and you have the makings of something incredible.  The dried fruit note takes on a raisin flavor as the middle burns through.  This, my friends, is a delicious cigar.  Strength is still in the medium-full range.

The final third is here and I can't help wiping a tear from my eye.  This thing should be 24 inches long....then again that would probably mess things up, so forget that.  Such a well balanced smoke.  The end is, if possible, creamier than the previous third.  More vanilla.  Coffee and a slight peachy note show up together as well.  It's such a rich set of flavors, folks.  It does increase a bit in the strength category as it smokes to a nub.

Value: At around $8.00, the Anthropology is well priced as an anytime smoke.

Final Thoughts: Well, I have to kick myself.  I should have bought more of these.  One just ain't  enough.  For the price, this is a cigar I could smoke forever and be happy as a clam.  This is an easy contender for cigar of the year for my 2014 list already.  And it is in good company.  Did I enjoy it more than the Aquitaine Mode 5?  Actually I did.  And the Aquitaine is wicked too!  Watch my site for a mid-year assessment of what you should be smoking very soon, and expect this cigar to be on that list.  Very highly recommended.

I love the simple and rather elegant bands on these cigars.  Embossed text and just the RoMa Craft logo printed on the end of the band.
