Nomad Cigars.  Never heard of them?  I hope this review is a wake-up call for fine cigars smokers everywhere.  Last May, I reviewed the Nomad Rambler just a couple of days after the passing of my Grandpa.  It was a bitter sweet review.  Rough time, as you can imagine, but the Rambler provided me with a hint of just how good boutique cigars can be.  Today, I am reviewing the newest Nomad release, the S-307.  While the name may be a bit mysterious, I can say, without giving it away totally,  that is has to do with the wrapper and some geography.  I know one of my compatriots in cigars reviews gave it away, so I will refrain and you can find his review to find out the full details.  All in all, a pretty cool naming convention.  So, let's see how this Nomad smokes....

Construction: Gorgeous is the name of the game.  The Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper is a little dry looking with some minor veins with a soft box press.  No soft spots present either.

Pre-light Aroma and Draw: Out of the cellophane, I get barnyard, sweet tobacco, cedar, and leather notes. 

Light and Burn: Two matches blazed this beauty to life with a perfect burn from start to finish.

Tasting: Starting off, the 307 hits with some black pepper and coffee notes.  Like the Nomad Rambler, I reviewed in May, this is another surprisingly good cigar

The first third gives up flavors of leather, black pepper, some oak, and a slight floral note.  I have really come to love the sumatra wrapper over this past year.  It is mild enough to keep from overpowering the filler while providing a terrific amount of complexity.

The second third gives some added flavors on top of the first third.  Black cherry sweetness and some coffee notes really add to the blend.  The smoke the 307 gives off is, well...a smoke machine.  Copious and cloying with a nice rich aromatic nose.  Just terrific.

The final third ramps up the strength and the flavors take a heavier turn.  Loads of cocoa, leather, and some hefty cedar spice.

Value: At around $8, the S-307 is perfectly priced to be an everyday smoke.  Well worth the coin!

Final Thoughts: I am such a fan of everything under the House of Emilio umbrella.  Their catalog is loaded with some of the best boutique cigars on the market.  Nomad kind of flew in under my radar last Spring but they are fast becoming one of the best in the Emilio family.  Without a doubt, I highly recommend this terrific cigar.
