It's been a rough week for me.  My Grandpa, who was like a Father to me, passed away after 91 amazing years on this Earth.  He was a WWII vet, a man that could fix anything, and just the greatest man I ever knew.  Needless to say, I have been up and down all week.  As a result, I hit The Wharf a few more times than usual to relax and calm the nerves.  Jordan passed me a couple more samples from the giant pack from Emilio Cigars (almost done, Nate!).  One of them was a rather ordinary looking robusto sporting the name " Nomad" .  While cooking Hagrid's beef casserole for dinner (from Harry Potter, yes), I decided to try it out.  How was it?  Let's see....

Construction: The Rambler is nice looking if a bit rustic.  The wrapper is a pretty chocolate brown with a slight red cast.  I noticed a bit of a lumpy look too - and to be honest I have found that to be a really good sign.

Pre-light Aroma and Draw: Unlit, I picked up fresh hay, a sweet spice, grass, and grass along the wrapper along with a nice tobacco aroma from the foot.  The draw was perfect too.  No issues at all.

Light and Burn: It''s windy - as usual - in Xenia today so I had to resort to the torch.  The Nomad fired right up and the burn from start to finish was excellent.  Once again, no issues at all.

Tasting: Starting off, I got a really nice buttery flavor accompanied by some nice spices and cedar.  Excellent start so far.  The first third gave me a very woody cedar spice with something like peppermint candy.  The overall complexion is creamy.  Into the second third, I got that same creamy spice along with a nice tone of earth, oak, and leather.  The final third continues more of the same profile but added a hint of buttercream frosting and some white pepper.  Outstanding to the nub.

Value: The Nomad Rambler will run you somewhere in the neighborhood of eight bucks.  For such a surprising and stellar performer it's worth that, easily.

Final Thoughts: This cigar blew me away.  That creamy spicy profile is just amazing.  I smoke a lot of Ecuadorian Habano cigars but this one offers something truly unique.  I really wasn't expecting much for such a relatively unknown brand but then I remembered who their distributor is.  They are distributed by Emilio Cigars.  Gary and Nate know what they are doing, that is certain.  I could see myself puffing on these regularly with a big fat smile on my face.  Well done, Nomad Cigars.  Well done, indeed.  I highly recommend this incredible and very unique cigar.
