Schizo Robusto

I am always on the lookout for a great cheap cigar.  There are a few good ones out there as well as a few crappers.  Over the years, I have tried some of each.  My last trip to The Market had me looking for something different and I chose a nice robusto with a funky looking band named Schizo that I had never seen before.  After some research, I learned the Schizo is a new short filler offering from Christian Eiroa of Camacho fame.  Made from the remnants from his new line, Asylum, the price on these things is amazing.  So how was it?  Let''s see....

Construction: Short filler cigars often get a bad reputation for being poorly made or made with sub-standard tobacco.  The Schizo is actually pretty nice looking.  Only one minor vein, smooth and fairly oily wrapper, this is a very well put together cigar.

Pre-light Aroma and Draw: Out of the cellophane, I picked up some nice sweet spice and tobacco aromas.  After cutting the draw was excellent and it opened up a bit more after lighting.

Light and Burn: Two matches and the Schizo blazes up easily....but here is the amazing part.  The burn is ABSOLUTELY perfect.  Laser perfect.  Unreal from start to finish.

Tasting: While not overly complex, the flavors of the Schizo are still very nice.  I picked up leather, spice, cedar, hints of cocoa, and a smooth creaminess on the finish.  As the cigar starts the smoke it produces is mild but it becomes a smokestack as it progresses.  I really enjoyed this cigar....way more than I thought I would.

Value: Herein is the truly amazing thing about the Schizo....are you ready for this?  $2.50.  Yes....two and a half bucks.  You could scrape up that much change from your couch cushions!

Final Thoughts: I think I have found a new cigar for days of fishing, working in the yard, playing golf, running a 5K, whatever.  This thing tastes like a $6 cigar...which sounds odd, but considering the exceptionally low price tag, I highly recommend this cigar.
