Tatuaje Verocu Tubos

Remember those old college days?  When finding a dollar bill when sorting laundry was like finding the holy grail?  Well, I have experienced the cigar equivalent of that happy feeling....My current favorite daily smoke is the Tatuaje Havana VI. Imagine my excitement upon finding a tubo version!  I know the Verocu is a slightly different smoke, but still.....

Construction:  The Verocu is absolutely beautiful.  One of my favorite things is seeing the glittery sparkle on the wrapper not from oils but from minor flaking of the silver edge of the second band.  It makes the cigar seem even more special.  Honestly this cigar looks like something you could eat.  A simply gorgeous dark brown wrapper sets this thing off well.  Personally, I love the contrast between the earthy wrapper and the red bands.  One nice thing is the aluminum tube.  Lined with cedar and rock solid strong, it protects the heck out of this amazing cigar.

Pre-light Aroma and Draw:  The Verocu has an incredibly powerful cocoa and cedar aroma out of the tube.  If your mouth doesn't water when you get a whiff of this cigar your taste buds must be broken.  When you clip this cigar you will find another of Tatuaje's flawless draws.

Light and Burn: Lighting with matches is the preferable method for me and hitting the Verocu with them never disappoints.  The burn develops easily and quickly into even gray ash.  I have had a few ever-so-slightly-wonky burns with these - but because of my OCD when it comes to keeping a cigar burning even most people would dismiss it.

Tasting: Huge and heavy is a good description of the Verocu.  Massive black coffee, cocoa, cedar, and earth bombard the palette in such a way that it will almost make you weep from the sheer pleasure.  I absolutely love this cigar from spicy notes at fire-up to the hot coffee flavors at the end of the smoke.  The aftertaste is pleasant and the finish is smooth - but be warned that this cigar packs a wallop!

Value: At around $12, I consider it a " treat yourself" cigar.  But it is certainly worth every cent.

Final Thoughts: Sadly the Verocu Tubo is no longer in production.  So....if you happen to find them laying around at your local shop or online you will want to gobble them up.  Personally, I think the Verocu is one of the best cigars in the normal Tatuaje lines.  Very highly recommended.
