There I was, at my desk writing lines of code minding my own business (I think I had The Beatles playing in my headphones) when my old Boss and friend, Bert snuck up on me and slapped a cigar on my desk.  Bert is another cigar junkie too so we traded stories and such - all the while my mouth was watering over the stogie he had given me.  An Alec Bradley K 147.  I had never heard of this one and it appears to be an exclusive to Thompson Cigar.  How did it rate?  Let's find out....

Construction: As with other Alec Bradley cigars I have had this one was expertly constructed.  Not a blemish on the wrapper, very heavy, and tightly packed.  There was a nice rich oily sheen to the wrapper as well....Something that usually gets me fired up to smoke.  I like the feel of sungrown wrappers - they are almost fuzzy soft to the touch.  I did have a problem keeping it lit towards the last couple of inches....A problem I have had with other Alec Bradley cigars.  It re-lit right away with no funny tastes or sputtering.

Pre-light Aroma and Draw:  The aroma from this cigar was amazing.  Out of the cellophane it had a sweet candy-like tobacco smell that was almost euphoric.  The pre-lit draw was nice and firm but not too much so as to restrict air flow.  Expectations were high!

Light and Burn: The cigar lit very well, although there was a strange spot along the foot that made the wrapper splay out as the fire took over.  While this worried me it turned out to be nothing and the cigar evened out to a perfectly even burn with a light gray ash.

Tasting:  The K 147 really surprised me with the flavors it provided.  Intense leather and sweet tobacco coated my palette from start to finish.  There wasn't a lot of complexity to the taste but it was very rich and consistent.  Highly enjoyable.

Value:  Heck, it was a freebie - no complaints!

Final Thoughts:  Overall a very good cigar.  Easily one I could smoke on a regular basis.  It's been a long time since I smoked a sungrown and this one has me wanting to try more and soon.  Recommended!
