Well, it's that time of year again. You will note that I increased my list from 10 to 25 this time. Why? I'm glad you asked. There were just so many amazing cigars available this year that chopping the list to ten was just too difficult - not to mention leaving out a slew of cigars that totally deserve some recognition. 2013 was a pretty rough year for me personally but oddly it was an amazing cigar year. Even the big companies stepped up their game to compete with the continued rise in popularity of the boutique companies.
You might note that I dropped the worst cigar category from the list. There are two reasons that it doesn't appear this year. First: typically, any cigar is a labor of love for a whole bunch of people and calling one "the worst" is bad karma. Secondly: I honestly didn't smoke one bad cigar this year. There wasn't one that made me say, "why am I smoking this thing", or even, "Yuck". That alone should be testimony for the skill and passion that cigar makers are putting into their products these days. Needless to say, I will not be bringing the worst cigar category back.
Like last year, before we continue on to the list, I would like to preface it with the following disclaimer: These are the twenty-five best cigars that I smoked this year - not the 25 best released this year or the 25 best anywhere. This is a list of my opinions. Nothing more. This list is meant for your enjoyment - and to help me remember what I enjoyed smoking this year. Enjoy! And Happy Holidays to everyone!
